Kosciusko Community Senior Services

Services

Mobile Meals

All programs are provided so clients are better able to remain in their home and do not need to go to a health or medical facility. This program provides a nutritional, diet-appropriate hot noon meal (five days a week) Monday through Friday. The client's physician must verify that the client is unable to reasonably prepare an appropriate meal for themselves. We also provide frozen meals to some clients for weekends and emergency meals for all clients to be used when weather does not allow our volunteers to deliver the daily hot meal.

Handicapped Accessible Van Transportation

We are the only social service agency, or business that provides handicapped-accessible van transportation to all of Kosciusko County. All vans have wheelchair lifts. Rides can be scheduled by calling our office at 574-267-2012. We request 2 or 3 days advanced notification. Priorities are given to clients who require medical and/or nutrition services. Our KCSS van drivers will help those needing assistance getting from the house to the van. A donation of $3.00 is requested and dearly needed given the price of gasoline and other petroleum products.

In-Home Services

With approval from our supervising agency - REAL Services - Area 2 Agency for Aged and Aging, a client may be placed in this program. We provide general housekeeping services for those who find it difficult to manage their household chores. We are not a health or medical service provider. Our homemaker may also help with shopping, bill paying, and banking services for our clients. Services are provided on a mutually agreeable schedule with the client. This service can and does provide some free time for others who may be providing primary care for the homebound client.
